About Us
Welcome to Hempfield Bands
Hempfield High School | Lancaster, PA
Hempfield Bands is one of the most dynamic and inclusive student programs in the district, offering a wide range of musical opportunities for students in grades 7–12. At the heart of the program are our curricular Wind Bands, where students develop core musical skills, performance technique, and ensemble collaboration during the school day. From this strong foundation, students have the opportunity to grow through a variety of extracurricular ensembles that expand their skills, creativity, and connection to the music community.
Whether you're performing in a concert hall, on a football field, or at a jazz festival, there’s a place for you in Hempfield Bands. Every student is valued, and every role is essential; there’s no “second string.” If you're willing to work hard, grow as a musician, and be part of something bigger than yourself, you belong here.
From our award-winning Marching Knights and Indoor Ensembles to our Middle School Bands and JazzONE, Hempfield Bands proudly represents the district at school events, community performances, and regional and national competitions. Known for excellence, spirit, and unity, Hempfield Bands is more than a music program; it’s a place where students thrive.

At Hempfield, our band program is built on a strong foundation of curricular wind ensembles, which serve as the heart of everything we do. From there, students can expand their skills and passions through various performance groups, from marching band and color guard to indoor percussion, jazz, and more!
